6: Rain?

Location: A1 Flyover near St. Neots, Cambridgeshire

Event: Strange Weather

It was just after work, around 6.20 PM on a clear sunny evening. I had the window of the car wide open as I drove the last stretch of motorway before home. When I came off the A1 something happened that I still can’t explain. Driving about 20 yards in front of me was - a metallic coloured estate car. Because everything was so dry and hot, I immediately noticed when the driver in front of me used his windscreen wipers. I looked at my windscreen and thought that they needed a wash too because of all the dead flies and other dirt. Then I reached the spot where the other car had been only a few seconds ago and suddenly it started to rain. It rained so hard with such big drops that I had to put the windscreen wipers on the fastest speed to be able to see the road ahead! I don’t mean just a few drops but honestly it was more like a brief monsoon! As suddenly as it had started it stopped and checking there was nobody behind me, I pulled the car over to the side of the road.  Looking back, I saw that there was a wet strip of road about 4 to 5 yards wide. I immediately searched the sky but there was no aeroplanes around and as I said before - it was a very clear evening. My next idea was that the water must have come from some sort of  garden sprinkler. The only problem there was that was a strip of road on a motorway flyover - the closest garden must have been 600 yards away. To this day, I still don’t know what it was but I know that at least one other person went through the mysterious shower too. If this story sounds familiar to anybody I would like to hear about it.
