Ljungberg Saves Lauren's Blushes
100% Record Still Intact Despite Own Goal!
Manchester City 1-2 Arsenal
August 31st 2003
Arsenal obviously haven't read the script. It definitely says:
" Manchester United to carry unbeaten run into new year, Chelsea to top the
league having spent £100 million to do so, and Arsenal? Who the hell are they,
boring has-beens who refused to buy big this summer. " But Arsene Wenger's
boys just don't do things by the book. Take yesterday's match. 1-0 down at
half-time thanks to an own goal by Lauren, yet we still came away with the win
away from home to make it 4 played, 4 won this season.
It is too early in the season to make much of the top
Premiership clubs' form, but I can't help feeling that bookmakers
Ladbrokes may be regretting giving the Gunners such generous odds to take the
title, namely 2/1 (now 6/4) against Man United's predictable 11/10. The next best
thing in football after Man United losing a game is knowing that the bookies
have been stung in the process ;)

Match report submitted by TL319:
Well
not much to report on this game, The Gooners were not at the races and
never had any intention to be there in the first place. Lauren Gave Man
City the lead by some terrible defending, his only defence in the matter
was that there was a timely nudge form Sinclair as he was clearing it.
Not much happened in the first half after that Anelka warmed the hands
of Lehmann and Seaman denied Freddie a chance at the other end. Too many
of AFC's men were not performing and Henry looked unfit. Second half,
and a small change in attitude, Wiltord scoring the equaliser after a
determined Cole crossed in. The second goal came from Freddie, and a
full stop added to Seaman's Departure from AFC, a mistake from him in
not clearing the ball and the answer was given to the AFC fans why he
had to go. This was dubbed battle of the goalies, well Lehmann wins the
first and only round of this battle.
Man of the match Toure, close second Keown. Thanks for your
commitment David Seaman and wish you well at your new club... Top half
finish in the league and you have done well.
